Have you ever been inside one of those weird and wonderful mirror rooms at carnivals or festivals? We find a collection of mirrors in these rooms, but they are not just normal mirrors… The glass in these mirrors is bent out of shape to create all kinds of funny illusions. It’s an experience that we can laugh about, but there is also a deeper truth hidden behind this.
When we have a wrong perception of who we are, it can be like living in such a room full of wonky mirrors. We find ourselves frantically running from one misshapen image to the next, grasping for the truth.
The truth is that you have a wonderful and loving Creator. You are deeply loved by God. You are appreciated and valued by the Father. You are delightful. You are His heart’s greatest desire. When we finally see ourselves through the simple truth of the Gospel, it feels like we are finally looking into a normal mirror without any funny effects bending the glass. And then we see that we are not ugly, bent out of shape, or broken beyond repair.
Through the eyes of the Father, we are perfect.
Your Worth Through God’s Eyes
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for showing me how You see me. Help me to remember that my true identity is found in You. I know that You are powerful, wise, beautiful, and amasing and yet You say that I am made in Your image. I praise You because I am wonderfully made! Amen.
Challenge: This week, whenever you look in the mirror, try to see 3 positive things about yourself. (This is not vain selfishness or superficial in any way, but rather a true estimation of your God-given worth!)
