Psalm 91:4-5
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you can hide.
His truth will be your shield and protection.
5 You will not fear any danger by night
or an arrow during the day.
In winter, sometimes it gets so cold that we just want to pull a blanket over our entire body (head, face, toes, everything). It’s so comfy and feels so safe. Unfortunately, not everyone has that luxury. But a blanket can only keep warm, it cannot give us real safety.
In dangerous situations, most people do one of the following: They flee or fight. We can flee safely to God’s protecting arms. God is greater than our problems and the dangers in our lives. There is a place to hide with Him. If we seek shelter with Him, we do not have to look left and right and be paranoid all the time, because He has our future in His hands and He loves us.
If we flee to God, God will do the fighting. You see, God’s love holds us fast and this is what Paul also wanted to say in Romans 8: 38-39: “38Yes, I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor ruling spirits, nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, 39nothing above us, nothing below us, nor anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You have a hiding place with God.
Prayer: Lord, I want to seek a hiding place with You when things get difficult. I do not want to fight and fight and fight in my own power, because I believe that Your love is greater than my problems. When I am in danger, let me be welcome in Your presence where I am safe in Your love… Amen.
Challenge: What trouble are you hiding from? The next time you feel you have to stand alone in your own power against trouble or danger, remember that God is there and that He wants to protect you.
