There’s an old saying from around the time when Jesus walked the Earth that goes: “May you be covered in the dust of your rabbi.” In other words, may you walk so closely behind your teacher that the dust their feet kick up lands on you. Beautiful, right?

As we journey through 2 Corinthians 12 together this month, we want you to notice something peculiar:

📖 Verses 17-19:  “Did any of the men I sent to you take advantage of you? When I urged Titus to visit you and sent our other brother with him, did Titus take advantage of you? No! For we have the same spirit and walk in each other’s steps, doing things the same way.”

In our previous studies we discovered why Paul is talking this way, but for today, let’s focus on what he said. Paul sent others. This is discipleship – someone sends another. Like Jesus discipled the twelve; He also commissioned (Matthew 28) us to make disciples. Or, as in Paul’s words: “we walk in each other’s steps”.

❔ Who is teaching you to become more like Jesus? Who are you teaching?

Thank You, Jesus, that You are the One who walks ahead of us. Help me to stay so close to You that the dust of Your feet fall on me. When people look at me, may they see that I am covered in You. Help me to remain teachable, open, and humble to learn from more mature believers. Also help me to use the overflow from their teaching to encourage others as well. Amen.
