2 Corinthians 5:17
17 If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!
Yesterday we saw how discovering who Jesus is changes the way we look at the world, but not only does it change the way we look at the world, it also changes us.
Nowadays when we scroll through instagram or just look at all the posters and billboards across our towns/cities, we see people trying to sell us an image. They are trying to say that if you look like this, you will be the bee’s knees. If we really wanted to look like that we would have to change a lot. And change doesn’t come cheap.
But when we start actually having a personal relationship with Jesus, we are changed, no strings attached. And this change is not an outward one, but it changes our hearts. If we know Jesus, we start to care for the people around us. We start to appreciate God’s creation. We start living as changed people.
What is most comforting though is that when we start to get to know Jesus on a deeper level, who we were doesn’t have to impact who we are. All the mistakes/sins of our past are no longer who we are, because we are changed permanently by God.
Who we were doesn’t have to determine who we are.
Prayer: Thank you Father for changing me when I get to know Jesus. Thank you that who I was doesn’t have to impact how I live now. Thank you that I can live fully because of your love that transforms my heart.
Challenge: Identify aspects of your life that changed when you encounter Jesus. Think about how your bible reading, prayer, or everyday worship changes who you are.
