‘For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”’ – Galatians 5:14
With so much happening in the world, we focus on ourselves and forget about those around us. I am sure you know the commandment: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ We are called to serve the Lord, and one way we can do this is by serving each other. We go through so much ourselves and enjoy it when we are on the receiving end of help.
But Jesus tells us that ‘blessed is the hand that gives than the one that receives’ (Acts 20:35). This does not mean that our problems are not valid, but we have to realise that those around us and around the world may be going through what we are going through or perhaps even worse. Jesus calls us to be neighbors to those around us.
He elaborates in Luke 10:30-37 that a neighbor helps another person when they are in need. Be a neighbor to those around you when they are not coping. You may sometimes not have the means to help, but you can always ask the Holy Spirit to provide the needed help and work through you, and He WILL provide.
We Shouldn’t Be Alone When We Are Not Coping
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I ask You to give me the strength to support those around me. Lord, I ask that You direct and guide me on how to serve those around me and to be a neighbor to them. I ask all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge: Ask those around you if you can assist them, and more importantly, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to serve and love those around you.
