I can still remember my mother coming back from shopping one day. She couldn’t wait to show me the new, beautiful shiny cups she had bought. But all I could think was, where will we put it? There is not even space for a mouse in the cupboard. And then also I was the one who had to unpack the cups in the cupboard. The cupboard was too small. And the cup must have only peeked over the edge of the cupboard by a centimeter. I then pushed the cupboard door shut, hoping the cups would make room for themselves, but I just heard the horrible sound of a cup cracking.
It got me thinking about how hard I was trying to fit in. Why do I force myself so hard to just fit in, and then all that happens is; I break myself. Just as the cup was beautiful to my mother, I am beautiful to Jesus. I was created exactly as He wants me to be, and He doesn’t want me to break or crack to fit in. I’m special and unique in God’s eyes, and I don’t have to fit in somewhere. Because I fit in with Him. Don’t force yourself to be someone. Just be you.
Unique Cups!
Prayer: God, help me remember that I am beautiful to You. Help me not to force myself to fit in and break myself. Thank you for creating me unique and special. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Uitdaging: Make a point today of focusing on in whatever situations you want to try to fit in. Then ask the Lord to help you so that you don’t force and break yourself to fit in.
