“Distress that drives us to God does that. It turns us around. It gets us back in the way of salvation. We never regret that kind of pain. But those who let distress drive them away from God are full of regrets, end up on a deathbed of regrets.” – 2 Corinthians 7:10
We’ve all heard the phrase “Disconnect to connect”. How is this applicable to our Christian journey? Simple- if we disconnect from sin in our lives, we’ll have a much better connection to God and His love!
God’s people (the Israelites) often failed to stay loyal to God. Even though they messed up, God still cared for them. He had unconditional love towards them, keeping His promise no matter what happened. God also has an unconditional love for us.
The wage of sin is death, but Jesus wants us to have eternal life with Him in heaven. He’s waiting, knocking at your door. He wants you to be free. He wants that for us all, and it’s our choice to accept His offer or not. When Peter walked on water, he experienced the same storm as all the other disciples, yet he was the only one to fix his eyes on Jesus and climb out of the boat. What happened the moment he shifted his focus away from Jesus? He fell into the water, just like we’ll fall into sin if we don’t constantly keep our gaze on Jesus.
Talk and confess regularly to God. He wants to listen to you! Like everything we attempt, it might be confusing at first. But don’t give up. Keep going, and eventually it will become a habit. Before you know it, you’ll be talking to God non-stop. Confession isn’t just internal. If you’re unsure how to confess to God, you can talk to your pastor or someone at church and ask them to help you lay your sin at the feet of Jesus.
The point is: don’t hide your sins! Step one is to bring it into the light. From there, you’ll grow into someone that may lead others to Christ someday!

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for Your unconditional love. I ask that You point out any sin in my life that I need to give over to You. Thank you for listening when I pray and confess to You. Amen.
Challenge: Pray and ask God what sin or struggle you should lay at His feet. Go to someone you trust- a fellow Christian or church member and ask them to pray with you.
