Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
9 Two people are better than one,
because they get more done by working together.
10 If one falls down,
the other can help him up.
But it is bad for the person who is alone and falls,
because no one is there to help.
Who of you has been through a difficult time where a friend helped you? Our lives are full of times when things seem to go wrong, but we do not have to go through these things alone. Some of the most meaningful times in our lives come when we help friends and they help us.
We are told in this verse that good friendships are things we must pursue. It’s so much better to express your deepest feelings with a good friend than to have friends who ignore you as soon as you share your issues with them. We are not made to stand alone, but to build each other.
Therefore, we must constantly be willing to grow true friendships: friendships that means we never have to stand alone. When we struggle, our friends come to our aid and when they struggle, we have the opportunity to show Jesus’ love by also helping them.
True friends help each other up.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for always being at my side. I believe that you gave me so much love and that’s why I can share love with others. Please show me where I can help my friends and make my good friendships stronger so that it radiates your love to others… Amen.
Challenge: Talk to your close friends this week. Listen to them and see if you can support them or ask them to help you if you’ve been hurt.
