The Lord is close to the broken hearted. He rescues those whose spirits are crushed. – Psalm 34:1
Jenny, 16, is successful and a performer, but her eyes reflect her hopelessness. She tries to deal with her challenges herself, but it becomes too much. She secretly cuts her. And later the handful pills…two weeks in ‘n clinic.
Jenny’s journey is also the daily reality for many teens who are in school with us.
How can we ctrl + alt + delete the “-less” in hopeless?
TALK, even if …
* You are afraid people might think you’re a loser;
* You are the rugby team captain or the head girl or a cheerleader of your school;
* You feel that God is deaf to your prayers.
When you lose your hope in Jesus, He understands it 100%, AND He doesn’t leave it there. He brings us hope by giving answers and sending people across our path – this became real to Jenny and her parents. They found hope again and with God’s grace, they now walk the road together step by step.
It is our faith in Christ that leads again to joy, peace and hope! Hold onto it, even if you can’t anymore. This way you can later testify that He never lets you down.
What difference do you make in other people’s lives each day? Do you greet people with a smile? Do you listen to a friend who wants to talk? When you do these “simple” things well, you are ‘n carrier of hope!
#thereishopeallthetime – believe it!
Prayer: Lord, restore my hope in You through the work of the Holy Spirit in my life. Amen.
Challenge: Hear from the Lord what you can do today to give hope to your peers.
