“We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. we’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him.” – Isaiah 53:6
It’s only natural to look at our beautiful Earth and wonder where it all came from. However, problems start to rise when people decide to design their own idea of a god and choose to have faith in that rather than in Jesus. Everyone believes in a force that makes things happen. Some people believe in fate and destiny, others in the universe, sun, and stars to guide them.
While they all look to the creation for answers, we can look to THE one who created them! Isn’t that amazing? Nothing will ever compare to God. After all, He’s the one who defeated death and rose from the grave. The ONE who created us all in His image. It’s because of that image that we as humans seek so much to have some sort of supernatural force to place our faith in.
Although some people are perfectly happy with their idols and self-made gods, they all lack a certain aspect: forgiveness. Who would you turn to when you’re in need of forgiveness? The stars? The universe? Or God, the only One with the authority and power to set us free of our sins? As God said in Ephesians 1:7, we can know we’ve been forgiven and redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Before Jesus was born, it was custom to kill an animal as atonement for your sin. The bigger the sin, the bigger the animal you had to kill. Just think, Jesus was killed to forgive our sins. His blood surely holds more power than a sheep’s or bull’s!
So, Jesus is the one to turn to when in need of forgiveness. Not His creation. Remember, He loves us enough to have given His life for us. We just need to respond, turn to Him, and receive His forgiveness and mercy.
The World Longs For God
Prayer: Lord, thank you that You’re willing to forgive all my sins, no matter how horrible they might be. I ask that You keep on having mercy on me, and that I will strengthen my relationship with You. Amen.
Challenge: We are called to forgive, as God has forgiven our sins. If you have a grudge against someone, talk it over and try to forgive them for what they’ve done. You can use this opportunity to tell them more about God’s forgiving heart as well.
