1 Thessalonians 2:4
But we speak the Good News because God tested us and trusted us to do it. When we speak, we are not trying to please people, but God, who tests our hearts.
When was the last time you had to do a speech? You probably spent a while preparing just the right words to make a convincing argument. It is natural for us to want to impress others, but when it comes to speaking about God, do we do the same?
It’s easy to tell other people (especially other Christians) nice words to try and convince them just how good a Christian we are, to hide away some of the things that we struggle with, or even to back away completely at times. We don’t really like to share our weaknesses. But what good is it if we constantly put up a mask and don’t speak of God as we really believe?
We know the amazing life of Jesus, we know that we are free to live full lives because of Him. I hope that we can start to speak of God and speak of ourselves in ways that don’t hide anything. We do not do this to impress our friends, but rather to be true to God who knows everything.
The truth is worth speaking!
Prayer: Lord, please help me to be true in the words that I speak. I am not ashamed of you or who you have created me to be. I want to use my words to tell others about You.
Challenge: As you end this week, look back at it and thank God for something amazing that happened. Use that as another reason to speak the truth.
