💭 Reflect
The law of Moses was rules that said what a child of God may and may not do (think of the Ten Commandments). When people broke the laws, then a priest in the temple had to offer a sacrifice on your behalf for God. It is impossible for any human being to always obey all the laws. Only Jesus could do this, for Jesus Himself was God. Come together on the road trip with Jesus and discover God’s plan.
📖 Galatians 3:12 and 19
“This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life.” Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised.”

Do you wonder who this “offspring” spoken of in Galatians 3:19 is? Invite someone with you to go on a roadtrip this week to find out who it could be?

Where do you see rules and laws in everyday life? Think, for example, of all the traffic rules – e.g. where cars may and may not stop and drive. Try this today: every time you see a sign with rules on it, think of something for which you want to say “thank you” to Jesus. Try to remember it at the end of the day and write it down in your journal.

Take a picture of a road sign or a sign with rules on it, which reminds you of the law of Moses that was difficult for people. Use #RulesAreHard

Talk to a friend or a teacher about strange rules you’ve seen or heard. When do rules get too hard? What do you think are the rules Jesus gives us to live by on our roadtrip with Him?

Read the rest of Galatians chapter 3 today and notice:
* As you read Galatians 3:2, think about what it means for the Holy Spirit to help you believe that Jesus saved you. For example, think about how the Spirit helps you when you pray for someone.
* Observing and following laws and rules is not wrong. However, when those laws make you afraid of the Lord and make you hide from God because you feel guilty, it doesn’t help. Galatians help us discover that Jesus was the only way the law could be fully obeyed. How does it make you feel to think that Jesus is the way you can draw closer to God instead of laws?
* Jesus’ life teaches us that there is only one law – we must love each other and for God. What will the world look like in which all people obey this law?
