“The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you.” – John 14:26
Do you sometimes feel you don’t know what to say or do in certain situations? You feel that you have to make a certain choice or say that one thing, but you don’t know why. It is the Holy Spirit who speaks to us and gives us guidance on most of these occasions.
Jesus describes the Holy Spirit as the “Advisor”, meaning that the Holy Spirit advises us on how to act and react. It’s important that we take this advice to heart and apply it, because it is not just made up at a whim, but it is sent from God.
This week I found myself in a situation where someone acted unreasonably towards me. I really felt as if I was going to explode! But then the Holy Spirit told me that God wanted me to apologise to the person for treating me unfairly. At first, I didn’t understand why, but I obeyed God’s order. After apologising, the person apologised to me without any prompting!
Most people would have written such a person off or defended themselves. However, God wants us to sort out the problem like Jesus would. And that is exactly what the Holy Spirit came to do. The Spirit came to remind us of what is right according to God’s will. In the above verse, Jesus also says that God will send the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom. It is up to you whether you are going to accept that advice!

Prayer: Thank you, God, for the certainty that You will help me to make the right decisions. Help me to control my reactions and actions and to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Amen!
