Layla was just 15 years old at the time. Living in a refugee camp, working to help her family from Syria to survive. One evening after her shift at a small local restaurant, something terrible happened. Her employer abused her and threatened her.
For days, she carried the weight alone. There were no helplines, no professional support. Finally, she reached out to someone who lived out the love of Jesus.
I had the honor of hearing her story when I was a missionary there. Layla’s brave step of sharing her story opened a path to healing that changed her life for the good.
