“Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.” – Ephesians 5:19
The last hot and usually difficult topic for the week is rock and roll. However, it is not only about this one genre in music, but about all music types.
Music is powerful. Have you been beside yourself with anger and then put music in your ears that just took you to a different place for some time? That’s what music can do. It can calm you down, but it can also get you psyched up and your whole body “rock-and-roll.”
Because music is so powerful and your emotions can get swept away, it’s necessary to know that if music is in the wrong songwriters’ hands, it becomes a weapon, and you can end up in the wrong places.
So many great musicians play around with music very creatively to make you feel good after a bad day. Go find good music. Check out the words and make sure the musicians are “fresh.” If the message they spread wants to push you off the road, shut it down.
God gave us music as a tool to praise Him. Find yourself good gospel music and add it to your playlist. By listening to the songs and singing along, you glorify God.
The world is rich in good music. Go find it, and make sure it builds up and doesn’t break down. Simply enjoy the gift and even if you can’t carry a tune, sing along at full volume!
Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll – Rock and Roll
Prayer: Lord, I praise You, for You are good! From my heart, I will sing and bring You all the glory. Thank You for the music and for filling me with lots of joy and laughter. You’re good. Amen.
Challenge: Carefully listen to the lyrics of the songs in your playlist and delete those from the list that don’t have nice and uplifting words.
