Respecting Yourself

‘Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.’ – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Respect is not just about how we treat others but also includes how we treat ourselves. As Christians, we are called to honor and respect our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. This means taking care of ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. It’s not selfish to prioritize our well-being and set boundaries to protect our health and values.

Respecting yourselves also involves avoiding actions and behaviors that dishonor God and your body. This could include engaging in sexual immorality, substance abuse, or other conduct that damages physical and spiritual health. You must remember that you are not your own but belong to God, who has bought you with a price. Take care of yourself it is your responsibility.

Respecting Yourself

Prayer: Dear God, help me to see myself as You see me. May I honor and respect my body as a temple of Your Holy Spirit. Give me the strength to set boundaries and make choices that honor You and protect my well-being. May I glorify You in all I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge: Take time to care for your physical, mental, and spiritual health today. This could include getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, exercising, practicing self-care, or praying and reflecting.
