‘There are six things that the Lord hates, even seven that are disgusting to him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind devising wicked plans, feet that are quick to do wrong, a dishonest witness spitting out lies, and a person who spreads conflict among relatives.’ – Proverbs 6:16-19
Do you want to walk in INTEGRITY before your gracious and holy God? Remember, He is a God who loves you and wants an honest, loving relationship. The best way to do this is to communicate openly with Father God. Share your life with Him, walk in the light, and pray. Live a life that pleases God.
Let us focus on the “lying tongue” we read in Proverbs 6:16. What does a lying tongue entail? First, we can say it is telling a lie, right, but it is more than telling a lie. It is an intentional deceitful attitude. It happens when we are selfish and only care about our own desires. This lying tongue will destroy relationships, trust, and how others react toward you. The worst thing is it will change your heart.
We started by saying you must have good communication with God. Choose to talk to God honestly and listen when He speaks to you. Trust your Heavenly Father to help you be a person of spiritual integrity. Do not cheat yourself out of a relationship with God because you believe in a lying tongue or a deceitful heart. Let God change that of you. All He asks is for you to be honest with Him.
Rebuke a Lying Tongue
Prayer: Father God, I put my trust in You. I ask You to help me walk in truth and integrity before You. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
Challenge: Think of the times you have been tempted to cheat or believe a lie and ask God to forgive and cleanse you. Put a reminder on your phone reminding you that you are forgiven.
