How to manage academic stress and prioritize spiritual growth.
“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” – Matthew 6:33
Homework, chores, assignments, tests, exams! Just thinking about it makes me tired. In addition, everyone expects you to perform and carry the great weight of your future on your shoulders. When did you last realise that the God we serve has already planned your life ahead? We quickly forget that God is the Author of our stories.
He even takes care of the birds every day! How much more will He take care of you?
In any academic stress period, first make time for God. Start each morning before you learn or work by talking to Him and whenever you are frustrated, pray and ask God to strengthen you.
Keep your eyes on the bigger picture keeping in mind the purpose of one day living with God in heaven. This thought makes the stress roll off my shoulders. God’s plan will come to pass. I focus on Him as I do my bit. I trust He will help me and keep me calm, even though I endure pressure.
Pressure From Teachers Makes My Legs Tremble
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for every academic achievement and for guiding us to accomplish greater things in life. Lord, please help us to put You first before our work, for without You we are nothing. Amen.
Challenge: Before you start your work today, spend time with God first. Tell Him about all your obligations and ask Him to give you a clear mind and that He will help you focus on your work.
