Everybody’s lives get busy, but we often try to focus our attention on ten thousand different things. Our lives get so busy that we sometimes do not even make time to spend meaningfully with God. Does it ever feel to you like God just does not fit into your schedule?
Today’s verse speaks of God as our King. We might not necessarily understand what it really means to be king nowadays, but in Jesus’ time everyone knew that the king had a large territory that he controlled and he determined what would happen in that territory. The king knew a lot more more than the ordinary people and strategically tried to make their area the fiercest in the land.
But the kings of that time did not always have the best motives. God, however, does have the best in mind for us. And God not only has control over places but also the world around us and things we can not even understand. If God looks out for us and our needs, why do we not want to put Him first in our lives?
Our King will provide!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that I can call you my King and thank you for making me your child through Jesus. Lord, I’d like to put you first before anything else… Amen.
Challenge: Try to literally place God first for the rest of the week. Find a way to remind yourself to talk to God in prayer in the morning or to open your Bible and read about God’s wonderful story as soon as you wake up. This is a great habit to learn.
