Is there anything that scares you? A monster under your bed or a huge task that could change your life? Fear can immobilise us because we forget how powerful and in control our God is.
One of the first things you learn in kindergarten is to sing songs about Jesus! There are many popular ones, but one of the most beloved is ‘There’s Fish in the Water.’ At the song’s end, we sing, “Who would have made it all? The Lord, yes, it’s Him!“
I sing this song when I’m scared to remind myself of the words. God created everything and everyone! He even overcame death! We don’t have to fear anything because God is everywhere. When you find refuge in Him, He brings a peace that surpasses all understanding.
The safest place to hide is with God, because He sees everything and is always in control Seek Him out when you’re afraid, and He’ll bring you peace and tranquility.
On God’s Lap
Prayer: Lord, thank you for always being with us. Please help us to remind each other to turn to You whenever we feel afraid. Amen.
Challenge: Sing the song you learned as a child about Jesus when you feel afraid or recite a scripture you know by heart. Making this a habit can help you remember that God is in control and that you should seek refuge in Him.
