‘Pray for us. We are sure that our consciences are clear because we want to live honorably in every way.’ – Hebrews 13:18
How do you deal with temptations and challenges? When in the presence of others, it is often easier to maintain a cheerful mind and appearance that hides our vulnerabilities and the battles we fight in silence. We tend to just show our thoughtful and honest side.
Yet the real test takes place during private moments. “It’s not really stealing, I’m just taking one,” we can rationalise. “Is it really that wrong? No one will ever know what videos I’m watching.” We find excuses for our actions based on the assumption that our transgressions remain hidden. But what about our conscience?
If this is our way of life it lacks integrity. Integrity is not just about outward action, but it is about living in accordance with our values, even in privacy. It is about striving to adhere to our principles, such as those outlined in the Bible.
We often forget that we serve an OMNISCIENT God who desires us to live an honorable life and therefore also a clear conscience. Our lives should glorify God because we are essentially God’s representatives on earth. Even in solitude, we are to radiate God’s light. This is the essence of Christianity.
Live in such a way that when you lay your head down at night you can be assured that you have obeyed God throughout the day at ALL times.
Navigate Temptation
Prayer: Dear Lord, I humbly acknowledge that there are times when I falter in maintaining integrity. I beg You to empower me to resist temptations and challenges. My desire is for my life to be proof of Your glory. I thank You for Your unlimited forgiveness and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
