‘My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.’ – John 15:12-13
One of the primary indications of Christian living is the love that Christians exhibit. Our love extends to loved ones and to all those around us, including non-Christians, as God has commanded us to love one another.
According to the Bible, love has four fundamental attributes: patience, kindness, absence of envy, and humility (1 Corinthians 13:4). Therefore, it is necessary to reflect on whether the love we show to others aligns with these attributes of love. Sometimes, we may unintentionally be less affectionate to specific individuals, show less love, or even express boastful love. Hence, radiating the type of love that represent Christ is crucial.
For example, if we encounter someone challenging to love, such as someone who has wronged us or holds different beliefs, exhibiting unconditional love towards them can be challenging. However, as Christians, we are called to love all people, regardless of their flaws or mistakes.
By showing love to such individuals, we demonstrate the transformative power of Christ’s love and can inspire others to follow in our footsteps. Instead of responding with anger or resentment, we can choose to show them love, kindness, and forgiveness, which is a powerful testament to the love of Christ.
Live The Love
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the infinite love I receive from You. Help me to also give endless love to everyone around me. Let people see in me that I am a child of You and You alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Challenge: Show intentionally love and kindness to someone who is often missed. It could be a stranger on the street or a friend who needs encouragement. Take the time to listen to their story and offer encouragement or smile and acknowledge their presence. Let’s show the love of Christ to those around us, even in small ways, and make a positive impact on someone’s day.
