1 John 3:4-5
The person who sins breaks God’s law. Yes, sin is living against God’s law. You know that Christ came to take away sins and that there is no sin in Christ.
It seems impossible for us nowadays to open our social media app (or even to watch the news) without noticing terrible things happening all over the world. You see, we live in a world where people sin daily – and it just becomes impossible to get away from it all.
John reminds us in this text that if we continue to sin, we are going against God’s law – these are the kinds of things that God wishes for us so that we might look more and more like Jesus. But these verses also show us something else – Jesus came to destroy sin. How could he do that? Well the key here is that Jesus lived a sinless life, and there is no sin in him.
This is where our hope lies the next few days as we sneak up on Good Friday: Jesus was sinless and that is how he was able to defeat the sin of our world. It also gives us hope that, because of Jesus, we are also free to live a life that brings God glory.

Prayer: Lord God, thank you for Jesus. Please give me the knowledge this week to get to know Jesus better. And Jesus, thank you that your sinless life gives me hope to become more like you every day.
