It Feels Like I’m Drowning When I’m Not Coping

‘Peter answered, “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come!” So, Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he noticed how strong the wind was, he became afraid and started to sink. He shouted, “Lord, save me!” Immediately, Jesus reached out, caught hold of him, and said, “You have so little faith! Why did you doubt?” ‘ – Matthew 14:28-31

Each of us goes through “something”. We get pressure from different sides in our lives. We then go out to look for other solutions and the first mistake we make is to turn to the world for guidance. The world offers temporary solutions like parties to ‘help’ us heal the pain we’re going through.

The sad thing is that it doesn’t help us. In fact, it leaves us even more broken than we were. The world offers nothing but sinful ‘solutions’ to the things we go through every day. It’s breaking us more and more. Not only that, but we also feel like we’re moving further and further away from God. Sin separates us from the Lord, which is what our enemy wants. He offers us solutions to sinful problems, and we find ourselves “drowning.”

But there is a solution. Our Savior is alive! Our Savior walks on water. How can we possibly drown if we have Him? Peter sank when he stopped focusing on Jesus. Set your mind on Jesus and cast your worries on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
Come to the gentle Savior. Come walk on your problems.

It Feels Like I’m Drowning When I’m Not Coping

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I am so burdened that I sometimes feel like I will drown. Please Help me, Father, just as Peter left the boat and walked on water to Jesus, help me walk on my troubles through the power of Jesus. I ask that You sustain me and my faith every day. I ask all this in Jesus’s name Amen.

Challenge: What has been burdening you? Set up a few minutes daily with the Lord, focusing on Him and reminding yourself of all the promises He has for you from scripture.
