💭 Reflect
How would you describe an elephant to someone if you have never seen one yourself? It is easy to talk about it once you have seen one. It is the same with faith. When you are on a roadtrip with Jesus yourself, it becomes easier to talk to others about Him. You learn to recognise His voice, His words, and His care. You can then say you know who He is because you know Him personally. That is faith!

(John the Baptist:) “I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”

❔ Questions

• What are the things or people that help you believe that Jesus loves you? Think about what helps you in times when you doubt.
• When things are going badly for you, it is sometimes easy to think that God is not with you. Which friends are going through such a time, whom you can remind that Jesus really walks with them? [Perhaps you can share with them an example in your own life of how Jesus traveled through it with you]

🙏 Talk to God
Dear Jesus, thank You that I can believe in You, especially when I see You in and when You speak to me through . I believe that You walk every step with me, and this strengthens my faith. Amen.

📢 Identity statement
Say it out loud: “I have faith in God.”

🎨 Respond
Trace the palm of your hand on a piece of paper. In the palm, write ‘I believe in God because…’ Then, complete the confession by writing a reason that helps you believe in each finger (e.g., Bible, friends…).

🤳Social media
Start a ‘chain of faith’ by forwarding a message to your friends and challenging them to also forward it with the words – ‘I have faith in God’ [#IHaveFaithInGod]

👥 People
Decide for a week, every day, to go to someone who helps you believe in God and tell them – ‘You have faith in God and I see it, thank you!’

• How would you answer someone who asks you, ‘Why do you believe in God?’
• What can you learn from John the Baptist, who was not afraid or ashamed to talk about Jesus with people who crossed his path? How and where can you be like John?
• Just as Genesis 1 is a poem in which the author confesses his faith in God as the One who made all things visible and invisible, John 1 does the same. Just as we believe we need oxygen to live (even though we cannot see it), we believe we need Jesus to live (even though we cannot see Him). Think about this for a moment…
