I Am Sorry

‘If your eye causes you to lose your faith, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hellfire.’ – Matthew 18:9

Have you ever received an ancient phone from your parents, and then the battery only lasted a few hours, and then you had to charge it again? It’s a frustration. You start buying power banks and driving chargers around, anything to give the phone a little longer “life.”

Sometimes that’s exactly how it goes with relationships. You do everything possible to keep the “batteries” charged to last a little longer, but nothing works. What should you do then? Discard the person or relationship? If relationships become unhealthy, find out why and what is wrong. If nothing more can or want to be done, the relationship must be ended, but how?

Christians are supposed to remain friends, even if a romantic relationship has ended. Here are some guidelines on how to end a relationship –

  1. Be honest with the person.
  2. Don’t cheat on them because you want to end the relationship.
  3. Don’t end it in a text or on social media; talk to them in person.
  4. Expect them to feel hurt because that’s normal.
  5. Don’t jump right into the next relationship.

End your romantic relationship in such a manner that you can still be friends afterwards. Remember, you were part of each other’s worlds. Respect that.

I Am Sorry

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please give me the wisdom to do the right thing in the right way. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Challenge: If you have to end your relationship this week, do it so you can still be friends.
