Romans 5:5
5 And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us.
We all know what a fader is, right? It’s that one person in your group of friends who always seems to back out of plans at the last moment. Their words (they say that they will attend) are not reflected in their actions. We’re disappointed when we put a lot of hope into something and it does not happen because people fade.
God is not a fader. God shows us on a few occasions in His Word that He is with us and will never leave us. I think sometimes we become discouraged when we are suffering and because we are discouraged, we ask where God is in it all. But maybe it’s just because God does not always do what we think he should. Then we were tempted to say that God is not there.
If we rely on Jesus, He gives us His Holy Spirit. We can experience God where we are because God’s Spirit lives in us. Holy Spirit (God’s spirit is personal, that’s why we don’t like to add a ‘The’ before Holy Spirit) will lead us to experience God’s love even in times of suffering. God is present in a close personal way. Because Holy Spirit has given us great hope for the future.
Holy Spirit gives us hope!
Prayer: God, thank you for giving me hope because Your Spirit lives in me. Holy Spirit, be my map on the roads in my life. Thank you for showing me the way in difficult times.
Challenge: At the end of the day, list 3 ways you saw God around you today. Making this a habit will allow you to notice more of God in small things – just showing how amazing He is.
