Your friends influence you, THAT is just the truth. Today’s question is: “HOW do they influence you?”. In Proverbs 13, I read that the people I surround myself with will have a positive or a negative influence on me. So be very careful who you allow into your life. Choose friends who will worship God with you and who will build you up
As children of God, we must have different standards than the world, especially regarding our relationships. Please read with me Ephesians 5:3-4: “3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.”.
Do you see God’s expected standard between you and your friends? When I read this passage, I first had to confess to God because that is not always the case within my circle of friends.
But what an extraordinary God I worship that He teaches me by His Spirit and Word how I should influence my friends. So remember, real friends support, shape, and influence each other. Be careful what you say and how you say it because it has an influence. Be there for each other through the good and the bad times. And please remember Proverbs 13:20.
Good Friends Bring Out The Best In You
Prayer: Lord, teach me to be a friend that positively influences my friends so that You can mold my friends and I according to Your Will. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Challenge: Test the tips on your friends this week and share the conversation with them so that they learn with you how to be a good friend to someone else.
