2 Corinthians 5:18
God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace.
Reconciliation (look at yesterday’s explanation of the word if you missed it) is not just for me and for you… well, not just as individuals. Through Jesus, God wants to reconcile the world with Himself. He wants to transform all the broken parts of the world into things that are beautiful and good.
God’s first plan with us as people is not to punish us for our sins. Yes, sin may have consequences, but God wants to draw us closer to Him and bring reconciliation (reconciliation that transforms the whole world). For God, reconciliation is the first prize, rather than just throwing us over His lap and giving us a hiding.
We should keep changing the way we view God as we learn new things about Him. We were not made to fear God. God does not wish to push us away, even though we sin, but He really wants to pull us closer to bringing reconciliation so that we can live in His good freedom.
God wants to pull us closer!
Prayer: God, I know that I don’t always make the best decisions regarding others and myself: Sometimes I sin. Thank You for not leaving me because of it. Thank You for wanting to make me a new person… Amen.
