God Speaks Through Prayer

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”Philippians 4:6

Paul writes this letter while he is in jail. When someone is in jail, positivity is often the furthest thing from a person’s mind. But Paul’s positivity is attracting my attention. This passage clearly states that believers should pray rather than worry about distressing things.

After praying, we will have peace. It is sometimes difficult not to worry about things that are important to us, it actually feels impossible to simply surrender and trust. But in these times, we, as God’s children, should not take up battle alone, but rather pray and put what is bothering us at God’s feet.

We sometimes think that prayer is a conversation we initiate where we inform God about our needs. That is where we are mistaken. To pray is a conversation that God initiated. He wants to walk the road together with us so we won’t stress too much about schoolwork or friends or relationships, but rather sit with Him; we are not alone. God stands behind us with open arms to catch us when we fall, so we may have peace.

God Speaks Through Prayer

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for still speaking to Your children today. When things simply become too much, we ask for Your guidance to turn back to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Challenge: When you are in a situation that causes stress, take a deep breath and pray. Try to be aware of the Lord’s closeness all the time and talk to Him, especially when stress gets too much.
