“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; He won’t leave you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6
We pray. We trust. But then the pawpaw hits the fan.
A believer teenager tries to take his own life. You prayed about the matter, but you didn’t make it to the learner’s council. You don’t get it.
We may remind God of His promises when we struggle – Deuteronomy 31:8 “Be strong. Take courage … God is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you. “
When you read this verse, you believe and trust, but still nothing happens. Why would a person then keep up with prayer or Bible reading? It’s time-wasting.
Jesus, with His crucifixion, was also God forsaken. So, He understands very well when we think God has “forgotten” us. He understands our suffering. The truth is, as in Jesus’ case, that God is always with us. Psalm 34:18 “If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.”
God cares and He is merciful. In 2024 as well. When our situation remains unchanged, we must stop and ask our faith community for support and intercession. God speaks to us through other people. Trust His promises and find strength in the knowledge that He is always there for you.
God Is Missing In Action
Prayer: Lord, it’s hard to stay believing when life is tough. Make me aware of Your presence in my life every day. Send your messengers, who will always remind me of Your truth. Amen.
Challenge: Write down scriptures that convey God’s promises so that you can pray them when life overwhelms you.
