Everyone needs a good friend. That person who makes you “better”. Someone you can talk to about anything and more. Good friends can make us happy and successful in life. Precisely for this reason, it is crucial to choose your friends carefully because they have such a massive influence on your lives.
The Bible tells us to remember that friends influence one another, this is a given and we cannot reason it away or ignore it. Proverbs 27:17 says that friends form one another. It can be good or bad. It always depends on who your friends are. Like me, you may have wondered how you should know whether someone will be a good or bad friend? Is there a way to choose?
These days, good friends are rare, I know, but know the Lord in choosing them, and He will show you the right friends. A good friend is someone loyal, loving, kind, and generous. It’s someone you can trust to help you when you’re going through tough times. A true friend will have the courage to say something when you do something that is not right or make a wrong decision (Proverbs 27:6,9).
Your friends may mean more to you than your own brothers and sisters.
Good friendships can enrich your life. You are formed and influenced by your friends, but YOU too influence and form your friends, remember this! If your friends are also believers, help each other to grow in your faith and if your friends don’t believe, expose them to a loving God.
Friends Form Each Other
Prayer: Father, help me choose the right friends, so I don’t make wrong decisions. Show me Your will. I ask it in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
