💭 Reflect
In the Old Testament, God’s people had to work hard and follow many rules to stay in His will and be protected from sin. But God’s promise to Abraham came true. Jesus came and He frees us from sin and all those many rules. That doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want! No, we must believe in Jesus. When your heart belongs to Him, His Holy Spirit will help you to stay away from sin and walk the right paths with Him.

📖 Galatians 3:23
“Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.”

❔ Questions

• Read the verse above and remember the “law” is like the Old Testament.
• Why was the law there? How did that change when Jesus came?
• Maybe you have a friend who needs to hear how freedom in God works?

Lord God, thank You that You sent _________ to free me from __________. Jesus, help me by Your Holy Spirit to stay on the _________ and to have _________ in You. Amen.

📢 Identity statement
Say it out loud: “I am no longer bound by sin.”

🎨 Respond
Write down a few sentences that sometimes come up for you when the enemy makes you feel as if sin clings to you. E.g. “Something is wrong with me”, “I’m not good enough”, “Nobody accepts me”. Draw or paint a picture over it that symbolises how Jesus freed you from all of that.

🤳Social media
Let someone take a photo of you today like the one above (where you jump for joy). Post the photo with a caption: Jesus frees!

👥 People
To be freed is to not be judged or condemned. Make a point today of not judging others because Jesus set them free too.

Read verses 19 to 25 today

• In verses 19 – 20 we read that the law was given by a mediator to God’s people. Do you know what mediator was? (Explore more in Exodus 19)
• Now read verses 21 – 23 and ask yourself: Could God’s people obtain perfect obedience of the law?
• Do you realise when you read verses 24 – 25 that God already planned freedom from sin and the law in His promise to Abraham, for you and all His children through faith in Jesus Christ?
