‘But if we confess our sins to God, He will keep His promise and do what is right: He will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing.’ – 1 John 1:9
It is wonderful to think that we are loved and not rejected by God. God’s love is so much more than how we think about love. It is a love that gives second chances and new beginnings. It is a given second chance to start over.
What does this mean when we say that we get a second chance? The Bible teaches us that God is willing to forgive us repeatedly. All we have to do is face the truth. We must go to God and tell him we messed up and need his help to forgive our sins and purify us. What is sin exactly? Sin is disobeying God, ignoring him, and thinking that you know better than Him. It seems we get away with sin here on earth, but sin’s actual effect is separating us from God.
It would help if you faced the facts, you are sinful and cannot save yourself, and as long as you try to hide, justify or ignore it, you will be trapped. You serve a kind and compassionate Father who loves and forgives you! Much more than that, He cleanses and purifies your heart from all unrighteousness. But as long as you try to sort out your own life and get squeaky clean before you come to God, you will stay trapped.
Jesus died for you, so you can live. He gave you a wonderful gift without any conditions, so confess your sin to Him, and you can start over. Do not waste the new beginning you have been given.
Everyday Is a New Beginning with God
Prayer: Lord, thank you that I can come to You and confess my sins, and know that You will forgive me. I now ask You to forgive my sins. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Challenge: Ask Him daily to forgive you and choose to live in God’s forgiveness.
