Doing Dating Right

“Some time later, Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in Sorek Valley.” “”Samson,” Delilah said, “you claim to love me, but you don’t mean it! You’ve made me look like a fool three times now, and you still haven’t told me why you are so strong.”Judges 16:4,15

Relationships are wonderful and falling in love is exciting. The simple joy of a greeting or a smile from someone you love can make all the difference. He cannot do anything wrong; she is the most beautiful creature on earth. It’s a special experience, but falling in love can also cause us to make bad decisions.

Take Samson as an excellent example of someone who fell in love and made terrible decisions, while being manipulated by the person he was in love with. Delilah took advantage of him, using him to get what she wanted regardless of the consequences. Unfortunately, many people experience this in their relationships.

Falling in love is a lovely experience, but it’s important to protect yourself. Your worth is not defined by your willingness to sacrifice your principles for someone else.

No person is worth sacrificing your values and principles for. You are worthy of genuine love and commitment, not just temporary convenience. Invite God into your relationship and allow Him to bless and strengthen it. “For I am continually aware of Your love.” Psalms 26:3.

Remember, love can be blind.

Doing Dating Right

Challenge: Talk to your friends about a person you are in love with. Ask them what they think of them. Ask questions about behavior/values /character.
