Coping With Stress

HEALTHY WAYS TO COPE WITH STRESS

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. …Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life!”Proverbs 3:6-7

“First pay attention to me, and then relax. Now you can take it easy—you’re in good hands.”Proverbs 1:33

“Worry weighs us down; a cheerful word picks us up.”Proverbs 12:25

“Well-spoken words bring satisfaction; well-done work has its own reward.”Proverbs 12:14

The Word of God, Proverbs particularly, overflows with wisdom! The Lord invites you to talk to Him about everything, to tell Him everything you think, whether it bothers you or makes you happy. He wants to share it with you. He doesn’t want you to worry about anything.

That’s why it’s crucial to fill yourself with God’s Word and promises, as they bring wisdom. God says if you do, YOU WILL BE HAPPY and won’t stress about anything. It’s medicine for your soul. Start by talking to God and changing your way of thinking.

It is also important to spend time with fellow believers. The Word says: “A word of encouragement from a believer makes you happy,” and Proverbs 15:4 says: “A person who speaks calmly about problems facilitates healing.” We need people to build us up and encourage us.

Coping With Stress

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you that Your Word has all the answers. Amen.

Challenge: Focus on what is important. Develop good habits and make time for exercise and relaxation. 1 Timothy 4:8 says that physical exercise also has benefits. (It can make you feel better and help your body cope better with stress.) Eat healthy food and rest, but above all, allow time for God!
