“The women left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran to tell Jesus’ followers what had happened.”
Have you ever experienced something so amazing that you could not believe it was true? Is it something that you told everyone about or something you kept to yourself? The women who went to Jesus’ grave could not keep quiet – when they saw that Jesus was raised from death, they had to tell everyone! Not only did they just see an angel, but they also realised that Jesus was still alive.
We probably don’t always realise how absolutely crazy the story of Jesus’ resurrection is. It’s humanly impossible, yet even death could not keep Jesus down! Would you be able to keep quiet if something like that happened? Probably not… then why is it that we often keep quiet about what
Resurrection Sunday is a day that should really shock us, but also one that should give us so much joy. Death did not have the last word, and because Jesus lives, we can share in that same life… Now that’s something to talk about!
Oh wow, can you believe it? Jesus lives!
Prayer: Loving God, today I am amazed. I am amazed because I am reminded that Jesus is alive and has defeated death! Thank you that I can share in that same life.
Challenge: Ask someone today: ‘Don’t you think it would be weird if you heard of someone who came back from death?’. Maybe you could use this as an opportunity to tell them about the amazing way that Jesus defeated death.
