‘Sin must no longer rule in your mortal bodies, so that you obey the desires of your natural self. Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin to be used for wicked purposes. Instead, give yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes. Sin must not be your master; for you do not live under law but under God’s grace.’ – Romans 6:12-14
In a world filled with temptations and distractions, it’s easy for teenagers to lose sight of their purpose as children of God. But these verses from Romans remind us that we are called to be different. No matter how enticing it may seem, we’re not meant to let sin rule over our lives.
Our bodies may have desires and cravings, but we’re urged to resist the pull of sin. Instead, we are called to surrender ourselves to God. We’ve been given a new life through Christ’s resurrection, and with that new life comes the responsibility to make every part of our being a vessel that pleases God.
Remember, we don’t have to live under the weight of the law; we are ruled by God’s kindness and grace. This should inspire us to live lives that reflect His love, mercy, and righteousness. Let’s strive to be light in a world filled with darkness. Knowing God’s kindness empowers us to overcome sin.
Being Pulled
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me resist the pull of sin and surrender myself entirely to You. Thank you for Your kindness and grace. Guide me in a life that please You, reflecting Your love and righteousness to the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Challenge: Today, make a conscious effort to identify and resist any sinful desires or actions in your life. Instead, honour God in everything you do, reflecting His kindness and grace. Seek opportunities to show love and compassion to others, demonstrating the transformation that God’s grace brings.
