Be Good!

‘Barnabas was a dependable man, and he was full of the Holy Spirit and faith. A large crowd believed in the Lord.’ – Acts 11:24

Today, we reflect on the fruit of the Spirit known as “goodness.” Goodness isn’t just about being nice; it’s about radiating the purity and joy of a Christian soul. Like Barnabas, who saw and celebrated the good in others, we are called to do the same.

But here’s the challenge: goodness is not our default setting. It’s the result of our connection with Jesus, the true Vine. When grafted into Him, His goodness flows through us, transforming our hearts and actions. Just as Barnabas went out of his way to seek Saul’s companionship, we must strive to manifest His goodness in Christ’s presence.

Sometimes, like Abigail (1 Samuel 25), we may find ourselves in challenging situations where we need to display goodness. Abigail’s wisdom and kindness saved David from making a regrettable decision. Absolute integrity shines brightest when we choose it, even under challenging circumstances.

Be Good!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that goodness may flow from me naturally. Help me to see and celebrate the good in others, even in challenging situations. Teach me to be generous and kind, just as You are. May my lives reflect Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, I ask, Amen.

Challenge: This week, challenge yourself to notice and appreciate the goodness in people around you. Be quick to offer encouragement and praise. Also, find an opportunity to be generous, whether giving to a good cause or helping someone in need. Let goodness radiate from you.
