‘“But I tell everyone who is listening: Love your enemies. Be kind to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who insult you.’ – Luke 6:27-28
Sometimes I feel like I don’t get enough practical advice from God, but then I read some verses from the Bible, and they speak to me. They offer the best advice there is! These verses wake me up, reminding me of what I should and shouldn’t do.
However, it can be hard to follow through even when we know what God wants us to do. We often ignore God and listen to the devil instead, even though we know deep down that it’s wrong. Loving our enemies and treating them the way we want to be treated can be especially tough. We might feel they don’t deserve our kindness because they’re doing something wrong. But if we don’t treat them the way God wants us to, we’re actually falling into the same trap they’re in.
For example, someone at school is always mean to you and tries to bring you down. Instead of being mean to them, you could try being kind and showing them that you care. This might be hard, but if you can do it, you might change their heart and make them see the error of their ways. Plus, you’ll feel good knowing you followed God’s advice and did the right thing.
Advice From God
Prayer: I am sorry, Dear Lord, that I sometimes treat my enemies as I think best. Please guide me to love them and to forgive them. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge: Do something kind for someone who has hurt or been unkind to you. Show them the love and respect that God wants you to have for everyone, even your enemies.
