‘If the Lord does not build the house, it is useless for the builders to work on it. If the Lord does not protect a city, it is useless for the guard to stay alert.’ – Psalms 127:1
Have you noticed when you drive how many ruins are along the road? I always wonder why there’s only a ruin left. What is the story behind the ruin? When I hang out with friends, especially when we’ve known each other since childhood, a lot of times, I can see the ruins of relationships left behind.
In Psalm 127:1, I read that if the house is not raised up by God, it will not endure. So often, we see a relationship that breaks up, and what is left behind is a rundown building. Perhaps the Lord plays only too small a role within our relationships, so we toil and sweat in vain to make the “thing” work.
Maybe it’s time for us to build our relationships with the Architect of all relationships again. God wants us to have healthy relationships, so why do we go to such great lengths to cut Him out of our relationships? Are we perhaps afraid that our relationships will not work? It can’t be that. After all, I don’t know anyone who wants their relationship with someone to end in pain and despair, so I challenge you to let God build your relationship and listen to His voice. You might be surprised at how that turns out.
A Relationships Architect
Prayer: Father, thank You that I know You made us for relationships. I know You want me to have a healthy relationship. Build my relationship Lord, so it is healthy. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Challenge: Start looking in the Bible for how God thinks about relationships, then list what is important to God in a relationship. Start by looking at Corinthians 13 and Colossians 3:12-13. Then start applying it in your own relationships.
