‘When you give to the poor, it is like lending to the Lord, and the Lord will pay you back.’ – Proverbs 19:17
In a world where poverty and injustice are prevalent, it can be easy to turn a blind eye and ignore the needs of people experiencing poverty. But as followers of Jesus, we are called to have a heart for the poor and to actively seek ways to help them. When we show kindness and compassion to the poor, we lend to the Lord, who promises to reward us for what we have done.
In Proverbs 19:17, we are reminded that whoever is kind to the poor is lending to the Lord. When we help those in need, we serve God and fulfill His purpose for our lives. God has a heart for the poor, and as His followers, we are called to have a heart for them too.
As I have a heart for the poor, I will seek to understand their needs and to help them in practical ways. I will be generous with my time, talents, and resources, knowing that every act of kindness can make a significant difference in someone’s life. I am inspired by the words of Jesus: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
A Heart For The Poor
Prayer: Dear God, give me a heart for the poor. Help me to understand their needs and to help them in practical ways. Use me to make a positive impact in their lives and to show them Your love and compassion. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Challenge: Today, take a moment to pray for the poor. Ask God to show you how you can help them practically. Seek to make a positive difference in someone’s life.
