John 15:15 MSG “I’m no longer calling you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything I’ve heard from the Father.”
How easy it is to approach God as a servant would a master. It’s almost like finding a list of tasks and checking them off one by one. Historically people heard demands from their “gods” and then tried figuring out ways to please them. Suddenly, Jesus said, “I will show you what the Father really is like. He’s not looking for your doing; He’s looking to know you and be known.”
This affection, this love, drives Him to draw us close to Him in a way that gives us access to all He is. His ideas, His emotions, His plans, His affection, His personality are open for us to know and understand.
Jesus pulls us up from merely servants into the intimate place of a friend.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You that You are willing to share everything that is Yours with me. I want to not just DO for You, but learn to BE with You and know Your heart. Reveal Yourself to me today? Amen.
Challenge: Spend a few minutes listening to what God says: “When I look at you, my child, I see…”
