30 WAYS TO GROW CLOSER TO JESUS THIS HOLIDAY:
The winter school break can be very long. Especially if you’re just sitting at home while your parents are still working and their life goes on. Holidays like this can feel super boring and endless.
🤐 We won’t go as far as to say you wish school could start again, but if we’re being honest – you kinda do, right? That’s exactly why we put together this list with 30-to-do’s. You don’t have to do all of the items on the list. There’s no pressure to do them in a specific order. Do whichever one stands out to you.
🌲 Go on a walk in nature and admire God’s creation. Stay in safe places and tell someone where you’re going. Better yet – take a buddy with you!
🎨 Create a collage artwork of who God is to you. Use a magazine or design it on Canva.
💃 Learn a TikTok dance to a Forrest Frank song that worships Jesus.
🍪 Bake something like muffins or cookies and deliver them to a family near you.
📖 When it’s cold, cuddle up with your Bible by a fireplace or a heater, with a cup of tea. Read one chapter.
✍️ Write an alphabet-prayer in your journal. “God you are so Amazing. You make me Brave. You give me Courage…” etc.
🕯️ Light a candle at the dinner table and ask if you can pray before the meal. Pray that God would dwell in your home.
🎵 Make a “Peace with Jesus” playlist filled with worship songs that calm your heart. Listen to it before bed instead of scrolling.
📱 Text 3 people encouragement verses or kind messages out of the blue. Or, make 3 cards and give it to them in person.
🧹 Surprise your parents or guardians by cleaning something without being asked. If you don’t know what to do, give them a voucher and let them choose what you’d do.
☕ Invite a friend over for hot chocolate and talk about what God has been teaching you lately. Ask them: “How do you experience God?”
🎥 Watch a Christian testimony video on YouTube and journal about what challenged or inspired you. (See number 16 where you make your own)
📷 Go on a “God’s goodness” photo challenge. Take pictures of 10 things that remind you of His love. Option to make a collage or sketch these photos.
🎲 Host a board game night and pray together before everyone leaves. Optional: play worship music in the background or talk about what your faith means to you.
📚 Read one Gospel story and imagine yourself there. What would you have seen, heard, or felt? Write an essay from the perspective of someone in the story.
🎤 Record yourself sharing your testimony in 2 minutes. Practice telling people what Jesus has done in your life.
🛒 Use some of your pocket money to buy snacks or toiletries for someone in need. If possible, give it to them anonymously (or without making it about you).
🧺 Help an elderly neighbour with groceries, gardening, or taking out the trash. Pray for them or encourage them with God’s Word.
📵 Try a “phone-free hour” one day and spend that time praying, creating, reading, or resting with God. You can do your favorite things with Jesus.
🎧 Listen to a Christian podcast while drawing, crocheting, gaming, or tidying your room. When you’re done, write down 3 things that stood out.
🌅 Wake up early once to watch the sunrise and thank God for a new day. Dream with God about what the rest of this year could hold.
🫶 Write down the names of 10 people you’re thankful for and pray blessings over each one. Send them a message to let you know they’re on your mind.
🎮 If you play online games, choose one gaming session where you intentionally encourage people instead of getting frustrated.
🍕 Invite friends over for pizza and each bring one Bible verse that’s been meaningful lately. You could also play Bible trivia games or read a passage together.
🚲 Go for a bike ride or walk with worship music playing in one earbud and spend time talking to God.
📓 Start a “God answered my prayer” page in your journal and keep adding to it. Write down what you pray for and mark off when God answers your prayer.
🎁 Declutter your room and donate clothes, books, or toys you no longer use. Ask your parents if they can help you find a worthy cause to donate these items to.
🎨 Paint or draw the fruit of the Spirit in your own creative style and hang it somewhere in your room. Or, use chalk and draw directly on your wall (ask for permission first, but it should wash off with water).
🤍 Serve your community by helping out somewhere as a volunteer. A local orphanage, holiday program for kids, or an old-age home.
🔥 End one night this holiday by sitting outside under the stars, talking to Jesus honestly about your future, fears, dreams, and friendships.
When you catch yourself saying “I’m bored” this holiday, remember this list and meet us back here.
